P&I Customer Engagements team works to build a customer base for SAP HANA database, through highly personalized and complex Proof of Concepts, built specifically to cater to customers’ persistent issues or needs. The team works on four to six week short sprint cycles, which include the complete software development life cycle, starting from requirement gathering and analysis, to modelling, development, peer testing, and then customer presentation.

 

The work concentrates in Big Data issues of the customers, vis-à-vis Modelling and Design, Predictive Analytics including Churn, Sentiment and Trend Prediction, as well as Migration from standard relational data to HANA.

Responsibilities:

·               Work directly with clients and sales teams for creation on Proof of Concepts on the viability of HANA for their day to day work, as well as solving their persistent problems.

·               HANA database modelling.

Project – EMAN MEMS

EMAN provisions Cisco meet its goals as a service provider to internal clients by making it possible to automate ordering and provisioning. With this set of network-based tools and its ability to access back-end databases and create a centralized information repository, we can quickly create new services, deploy them, and support customer self-service, whether on the San Jose campus or in any Cisco office around the globe. The services catered are operational monitoring, performance monitoring, operations automation, inventory management, service provisioning and reporting.

EMAN is being considered to be maintained as a legacy system. MEMS is the more comprehensive and advanced provisioning system, still under development, and will replace EMAN in future.

 

Responsibilities:

·               With this project, I have shifted more towards the individual performer/architect role.

·               I am responsible for taking up client project requirements, offer solutions and drive the development, testing and deployment independently.

·               Core oracle database programming tasks include the use of advanced language features like conditional compilation, collections and records, partitioning of indexes and tables, LOB handling, XML data handling and hyperlink handling.

·               Database/query tuning using advanced DB statistics, indexes, partitioning, data definition changes and efficient archival methods.

·               Use of oracle SQL Loader and external table utility/feature for data loads

Project – Charles River Development (Position Services)

The Charles River trading Application is being implemented as part of FIL’s (Fidelity Investment Limited) separation from FMR. The view is to build a separate Position Service, which will augment holding records, received from the accounting applications, with unaccounted trades and transactions. Position Service (PS) is being developed as part of Investment Service Program to provide the start-of-day trading view to downstream applications like Charles River and other IM Decision Support applications, with data sourced from Holding Service, intraday transactions data from the Transaction Service and escrow quantity from Escrow Service.

 

Responsibilities:

·               I lead a team of 4 developers in an “Agile” environment.

·               I was responsible for overall technical design, including HLD, LLD, coding the base framework and subsequent implementation of unaccounted and unprocessed trading on bulk positions data.

·               Mainly responsible for data extraction from Holdings, Transaction services and Escrow services to compute intraday and end of day trading positions, using PLSQL and Informatica.

·               I tuned the data transformations to make the current trade positions available in the exact time windows required by the Fidelity trading managers in varied geographies across the world.

Changing Worlds is the market-leading provider of Intelligent Wireless Portal solutions. Business Intelligence (BI) is a reporting application that uses an Oracle database instance to generate reports based on stored navigator hits logs and portal files.

 

Responsibilities:

·               I worked with the sales team for a Proof of Concept on BIRT and successfully brought the reporting modules of the project to my company and subsequently completed the pilot project.

·               I was responsible for BI report development using open source BIRT with Oracle 10g backend

·               Tuning and modifications of oracle backend packages/procedures/functions for increased performance.

·               Peer level testing.

Project - Migration

E Merchant system covers core record functional areas such as Vendor Maintenance, Product Hierarchy Maintenance, and Product Maintenance etc. and also cover areas such as Promotions & PO Maintenance. The product is being used in Hypermarkets/Supermarkets in Malaysia with more than 60 stores spread across Malaysia and Singapore. This project involved migration of database to SAP system and work on backend PL/SQL procedures and front end forms and reports to cater to new data requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

·   I was responsible for business intelligence requirement analysis with business and technical users and subsequent development of D2K reports for sales data analysis.

·   I gave periodic application demos to business users to capture their comfort level as well as feedback for further improvement of the product.

·   I worked with a 10 member team to migrate my client’s legacy data to an efficient and standardized relational oracle database. The tasks included data extraction to a staging database through SQL Loader, data transformation through PLSQL packaged procedures, data loading to oracle database through PLSQL packaged procedures, partitioning large tables for efficiency.

Project - Merchandise Management System

MMS (Merchandise Management System) deals with construction & deployment of MMS (Merchandise Management System), BOS (Back office system) & POS (Point of sale) for a retailing major. Enhancements are being done on the existing MMS system, to handle another banner under the same group company while Store BOS and POS were developed afresh.

 

Responsibilities:

·   I was responsible for facilitating the clients with sales, product return, POS exceptions and customer data analysis and created 50 different D2K reports, primarily using SQL analytical and aggregation features, to capture all different dimensions of the business.

·   I worked with a team of 10 responsible for processing point of sale and back office data for inventory management, pricing and promotions through PL/SQL packages/functions/triggers.

·   As part of a 5 member UAT team, I worked at client office for product demos, system testing and performance enhancement for large volumes of data, customer issues resolution and bug fixing.

Currently retail chain stores in Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea use the MMDS product.

 

Responsibilities:

·   My team and I were responsible for development of front end Forms/Reports (D2K).

·   Development/maintenance / enhancement of backend Oracle PL/SQL packages/functions/triggers.

·   I was the configuration controller for all project objects using Source Safe.

·   I worked with my team on requirement analysis for new enhancements and creation of SRS, high level (HLD) and low level designs (LLD) documents.

·   I was on the 24 hour support team for bug fixing and customer issues resolution.
